Your Chamber at the Community Markets

We hosted our first Meet the Chamber of Commerce stall at the Community Markets on Saturday and were pleased to have the opportunity to talk to several business owners, both current and prospective members. Welcome to all who joined us on Saturday! We look forward to connecting with you through one of our upcoming events. We’ll be doing this on a regular basis so please look out for us.

Meet the members – Nicole Holland

What is your business?
I am currently working with a not for profit organisation – Chess Connect. I joined  5 years ago as an Employment Support Coordinator and now hold a position as a Performance and Partnership Leader. This means that I work across the Coffs Harbour Employment Services Area encompassing Woolgoolga, Bellingen Dorrigo and Nambucca.
How long have you been in Bellingen?
I have been the Employment Services Performance and Partnership Leader in Bellingen for the past two years.
Has the pandemic affected your business?
Fortunately, at CHESS Connect we have been able to adapt our services from a primarily face to face service delivery model to online, phone and email contact, with staff delivering services from home. This has allowed us to remain viable as a business and keep our staff and customers safe in accordance with Government restrictions. In addition, it means we have been able to continue to support our employers and customers during this time of economic uncertainty.
You’ve just joined the Chamber Board — what prompted you to join and
what are you hoping to contribute to the Chamber?

Having been involved with the Bellingen Chamber of Commerce for some years as a CHESS Connect representative, i was able observe some of the wonderful things that the Chambers were working on. Also I have been able to work with board members to create sustainable employment pathways and opportunities within the Bellingen Shire.
As a Board member, my primary aim will be to facilitate and support the establishment of partnerships across local business, government and community sectors. This will help to secure ongoing training and employment pathways within the Shire and ensure that local businesses are gaining the most economic value from available government employment incentives.
