The following event information has been forwarded to the Bellingen Chamber to inform members and their staff, family, and friends, about the upcoming Screenwave International Film Festival.
The Screenwave International Film Festival (SWIFF) returns to Coffs Harbour and Bellingen running from January 4 – 28. The 2017 program is now available, featuring over 70 film sessions with this year’s cutting edge of world cinema.
SWIFF won’t be just film watching though. Actors, writers, cinematographers, producers, and directors will be descending on the region to introduce their films, participate in Q&A sessions, and engage with local and visiting Coffs Coast audiences.
SWIFF enters its second year in 2017, having attracted over 3000 people into theatres for its inaugural 2016 festival.
“Our aim with SWIFF 2017 is to create something that feels like the Coffs Coast, something synonymous with who we are as a community, and something that the people who live in our beautiful region are proud of,” explains Festival Director Dave Horsley.
There are a number of firsts for this year’s SWIFF. For 2017, Element Bar will be the Festival Hub, a place to eat, drink, and talk film with other festival goers. The program also includes Access All Areas Film Festival, a program about social inclusion and diversity in disability, presented by Community Care Options.
Arts Mid North Coast are also presenting Industry Connect, a networking and information event aimed at connecting the Coffs Coast’s own film industry. Finally, SWIFF’s 2017 signature program, Call of the Surf Film Festival makes an appearance in this year’s line-up hosting incredible, captivating big screen surf films.
Opening Night event tickets are now on sale for the new Iranian documentary “Sonita”. Tickets include a drink on arrival, canapes, live music, and an invitation to the Opening Night afterparty.
SWIFF is presented by local film team Screenwave and is supported by a number of festival partners.
