The following information has been forwarded by Rebecca Jardim, Senior Strategic Planner at Bellingen Shire Council regarding the Footpath Activities Policy.
Thank you for your interest in the Footpath Activities Policy, a project run by Bellingen Shire Council to encourage outdoor dining and trading to increase town centre vibrancy whilst making sure footpaths are safe and accessible for pedestrians of all abilities.
On 27 September 2017, Council adopted the final Footpath Activities Policy, changes to planning controls, a new approvals process and a waiver of all Footpath Activity application fees for 6 months (starting from the date of the planning amendment change). Planning Amendment 10 was notified by the State Government on Friday 24 November 2017.
Council is now ready to roll-out the new approvals process, and is committed to making this process simpler and quicker. To encourage businesses to obtain the relevant approvals no application fees will be charged for the first 6 months (fee-free period will end 24 May 2018).
The Footpath Activities Policy, FAQs, application forms and guides can be found at the following link: https://www.bellingen.nsw.gov.au/business/using-footpath-outdoor-dining-and-trading
We will be advertising the new policy and process in local media and through business networks, now and early next year after the busy Christmas period.
Please feel free to pass this information onto your members and through your networks. I have attached (and copied below) an A5 flyer which summarises the new process.
